Newton County Records Contacts

Newton County Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm whether someone is in custody, verify a release, retrieve an official booking record, arrange bond, or make a records decision. Contact the public office that owns the record for an official answer.

Official Records and Custody Contacts

Use the record type to choose the contact. The Sheriff handles county custody and jail booking questions. Municipal police departments handle their own incident records. Court files and state custody are separate systems. Emergency situations belong on 911, not on an administrative records line.

601-635-2101
601-635-4096

Decatur, MS 39327
601-635-3555 or 601-635-2761

Contact Decatur Police for a city police incident report. It is separate from a county jail booking record or booking photograph.

Newton County Circuit Clerk, Michael Butler
P.O. Box 447
Decatur, MS 39327
601-635-2368
The Circuit Clerk maintains criminal case files, indictments, motions, and judgments. This office is the court-file route, not the jail-custody route.

For a person in Mississippi state custody, use the official MDOC offender search or its written records-request process. An MDOC record is different from a Newton County booking record, and a county of conviction is not the same as an arrest location. Federal and ICE custody systems are separate from local booking records.

  • Ask the Sheriff for a county booking entry, releasable booking photo, custody confirmation, or jail-docket record.
  • Ask the city police department that made the arrest for its incident or arrest report and its current public-records procedure.
  • Ask the Circuit Clerk for a later Newton County court file, case activity, indictment, motion, or judgment.
  • Use MDOC only when the question concerns Mississippi state custody rather than local jail booking.
  • Use 911 for an emergency. Do not use the E-911 nonemergency lines as a booking lookup service.
